Wine Bottle Crafts
I am no Martha Stewart, and there are a hundred people on Pintrest that probably have some great ideas on Wine Bottle Crafts. However; my friend and I started working on various projects and I want to share the ones that worked the best. I will have an image of the projects and a link to how to make them as we finish with them.
Wine Bottle Light
Clean Bottle, Remove label (acetone/nail polish remover or Goo
Gone will remove the label completely)
Ensure Bottle is clean and dry
Using a Glass drill bit – drill a whole (at least 1 ½”) near the
bottom of the bottle.
(Take your time the glass will get hot, and always use all proper
safety measures)
Using 180 grit sandpaper file down the hole
Decorate! (See tips below)
Fill will one small strained of Christmas Lights
Wine Bottle Vase
Clean Bottle, Remove label (acetone/nail polish remover or Goo
Gone will remove the label completely)
Ensure Bottle is clean and dry
Decorate! (See tips below)
Fill with plastic or dried flowers
Wine Bottle Candle Toppers
Clean Bottle, Remove label (acetone/nail polish remover or Goo
Gone will remove the label completely)
Ensure Bottle is clean and dry
Using a glass bottle cutting tool, score the bottle at desired
position
Place the bottle in boiling water, then ice water (this will
force the bottle to split into two – there are other methods on the web as well,
just be sure you take all proper safety precautions.
Using 180 grit sandpaper file down both pieces of the
bottle
Decorate! (See tips below)

Use the bottom of the bottle as a tumbler/glass
DECORATING IDEAS
For Raffia
Start by tying Raffia in a not around the neck of the
bottle.
Apply glue in (start in small sections using thin layer of
glue)
Wrap the Raffia around the bottle until you reach the bottom.
(You will need to continue with the glue process as you work down the
bottle)
Tie the end of the Raffia and glue ends down.
For Tissue Paper
Use Mod Podge or White Glue
Tear tissue paper into small pieces
Apply small amount of Mod Podge/Glue to the back of each piece
and apply to bottle.
Then apply a thin coat of Mod Podge/Glue over the tissue paper
while it is on the bottle.
Be sure and overlap the tissue paper in various
places.
For Paint
Ensure you are using paint for Glass
Paint according to the directions on the paint
Ensure each coat dries thoroughly before applying a new
one.
For Etching (the bottle must be fully clean and dry or the
etching will come off)
Apply stencil to bottle
Follow instructions on Etching Cream Bottle (be very careful this
stuff can be nasty)
Using a paint brush or foam brush apply etching cream over
stencil
Leave on for the time specified in the
directions.
Remove the etching cream via the instructions
Wipe Dry
